Huntsville Conservative Synagogue

Welcoming Statement

Etz Chayim Conservative Synagogue instills inclusive yet traditional values. We operate within the framework of Conservative Judaism, rooted in the Torah and Halacha (Jewish law). We interpret these traditions in a way to foster growth and meaning for all congregants.

We welcome new and unaffiliated members of the community to join and participate fully and include families and individuals of all kinds, ensuring that every person is seen and feels valued. At Etz Chayim Conservative synagogue we offer prayer and learning opportunities for all, honoring Jewish diversity, and supporting interfaith families. We know synagogue life may be new to some and offer help by explaining prayers, giving translated prayer books, or having greeters assist guests. .

Our goal is to Convey a warm, hospitable atmosphere where people feel comfortable and can connect with God and the community.

Please join us in services and programs,
and we encourage you to introduce yourselves so we can get to know you better.

"My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples"

Rabbi’s Bio

Rabbi Stephen Listfield

Stephen Chaim Listfield was ordained as a rabbi in 1974 by the Jewish Theological Seminary. He was the class valedictorian. He is a graduate of Rutgers, phi beta kappa and magna cum laude.

Rabbi Listfield says that the greatest lesson he learned in his years of rabbinical leadership is that the more we love our fellow Jews, the more we love all of humanity. Love always starts at home but it spreads its wings infinitely.
